Craft Attack was October 10 in Charlotte, NC. This is the first time I’ve had an entire booth all to myself (last year I shared a booth and at Urban Craft Uprising, I had a smaller space) and I was a bit worried about filling it all by myself.
My anxiety was further raised when I realized we couldn’t fit one of the table and 2 of the big standing baskets in the car. It’s an understatement to say I had a melt-down.
But since I couldn’t think of any solution (other than running right out and buying a trailor or a pick-up truck!), I decided to make do with what I had.And it all worked out – it was SO rainy in the morning, I had to keep everything UNDER the tent and out of the slanting rain, so all my stuff was a bit squished as it was.
The best part of any show is talking to real, live, in-person..uh, people! Both the customers who pull out their iPhone to check Ravelry to see what can be made with a yarn and the other vendors who tell you which of the other craft shows are worth the time.
I really love craft shows for the chance to debut something that I haven’t offered in the online yarn shop.
I had hemp laceweight at both Urban Craft Uprising and Craft Attack and the crazy reception it recieved at both of these shows confirmed that I should offer it online. And sure enough, when I posted it this morning and Twittered about it, I nearly sold out! There’s just a bit left, available here.
Another thing I tried and will be bringing online is the banana fiber by the ounce:
Instead of bagging it up and selling it as 4 oz, I let spinners (and felters!) weight out how much they wanted of each color.
Look for banana fiber by the ounce in the Vegan Spun section of the Boutique!
If you went to Craft Attack and have some pictures of it, share the link in the comments!
Xiane, took some great pictures of the show (you can see them all here) – all of the pictures in this post are hers, except for the one of the tent!
