Sick of waiting for online sales to roll in?

Go out into the world and make money the old-fashioned way.
You know, in person. At Craft Shows.

It’s a fabulous (and fun and challenging) way to get immediate sales and get the word out about your thing.
And this teleclass is going to show you exactly how to do it right.

Warning: This class is for crafters who have some experience selling their goods either online or in person.
This is NOT for never-sold-a-thing crafters.

You want to branch out and meet REAL people.
In person.
You want to see them ooh and ahh over your handmade wonderfullness.

But you don’t know where to start.

Or maybe you’ve done a few real life shows, but you’d like to do them better.
Pick better shows.
Get accepted into better shows.
Make more sales AT the shows.
Make money AFTER the show.

This 2 hour class will teach you how to:
  • Decide if craft shows are right for your business.
  • Fit them into your schedule and business cycle.
  • Pick a great craft show and avoid the duds.
  • Put together an application that will help you get accepted.
  • Prepare for the show – inventory, booth, everything!
  • Keep your other sales going while prepping for shows.
  • Create a booth that grabs attention.
  • Connect with customers, other vendors and media at the show.
  • Continue to make sales after the show.

We’ll also cover how doing craft shows fit into your larger business goals, deciding if a far-away show is worth the expense and the logistical considerations of doing shows.

What kind of craft show? What about art festivals?

The kind of craft show we’ll be talking about is the new generation of DIY, filled-with handmade goodness-type shows. A lot of the information is applicable to traditional art/craft shows, art festivals and bizarres, but we’ll be focused on handling shows like Bazaar Bizarre, Urban Craft Uprising and Craft Attack.

Who is the teacher?

Hi, I’m Tara Swiger and I’m the teacher.

I’m the owner of both Blonde Chicken Boutique, an online yarn shop filled with my handmade yarn, and A Novel Yarn, a bricks & mortar shop in Jonesborough, TN filled with handmade yarn from a variety of independent fiber artists.

I quit my day job (as a secretary) to be a full-time fiber artist after running Blonde Chicken Boutique on weekends and evenings for 3 years.
While building Blonde Chicken Boutique I did craft shows all over the country, even travelling to Seattle (from Tennessee!) for my most successful show ever.

I want to sell my stuff in a bricks+mortar store, how do I begin?

Check out this class, which covers all the basics of selling your handmade goodness in shops.
