Fiber Friday – Juxtaposition Edition

I love to play with texture in my knitting, matching a smooth yarn with a scrappy one, or supercrazybulky yarn with a teeny tiny lace yarn.

It’s even more fun to play with it in the dyepot. Nearly every non-wool fiber I dye gets a “dyepot buddy”: cotton + banana, silk + hemp. Every fiber takes the color a little differently so the resulting yarns “match” without being identical.

I’m smitten with the depth this lends the knit or crocheted item.

My favorite combination is matte + shiny.

Here are are a few matte + shiny matching-ish yarns added to the Boutique this week.
