Last week, I signed my little brothers up for the Summer Reading Program. For every book (or 15 minute increment) they read, they get a sticker. The reader gets to set his own goal and then work toward it all summer, filling up their tracking sheet with stickers.
As I was helping them set their goal, I thought I want to do this.
I want stickers! I want summer fun! I want a pile of people to play with!
And then I started thinking about summer camp.
The campfires.
The songs.
The Trivia Game (which I rocked.)
Why don’t we (adults), get to do this stuff anymore?
Get to have slightly structured fun-time, surrounded by our friends?
Why not?
I’m making my own summer camp!
With the focus (heavily!) on my favorite thing in the world: YARN
But without structure! No forced patterns, or yarn, or colors. Freedom, baby!
And even better: from your own home!
No mosquitoes!
No sunburn!
No gross shared bathrooms!
Introducing: Summer Yarn Camp!
With all the yarn you need + pattern ideas + regular chats to encourage you.
You pick your yarn (banana or hemp or a surprise!)
You get a skein of yarn for the 3 months of summer.
You pick the color (or leave it to chance!)
You get two simple patterns (which you can make, or not)
A tracking sheet (like the reading program)! You can fill it up with stickers or color it in!
You play with the other Campers (on Twitter) every other week, to talk about your summer crafting.
And at the end? A big Talent Show, where we admire everyone’s summer crafting (finished or not).
And maybe, somewhere in the middle, we’ll make up silly camp songs? And have a Trivia Quiz? (with prizes of…yarn! of course!)
If you want to join me for Summer Yarn Camp, click here!
But beware! (ooooh, ghost stories!) There are only 10 spots in each camp!
Last time I introduced a yarn club, the spots filled up in a week, so these will go fast!

Hi! I'm Tara and I'm the Blonde Chicken behind all this yarn! You can read more about how I got this
